The Office of the José Martí Program (OPM) is the articulating body of the National Program for the Study and Promotion of the Martí Ideary, to promote research and dissemination of the life and work of José Martí, National Hero of Cuba. The reasons that founded the OPM remain fully valid: “the political, cultural and ethical conceptions of José Martí acquire an increasing national and international interest and relevance. And in the face of the challenges that the country faces and to continue strengthening our national identity, it is necessary to promote the legacy and morality of the Apostle in a broader and more systematic way, and to link it more rigorously to the debate of ideas in the contemporary world. All of this requires coordinated institutional and social efforts.”
