"Juventud Rebelde" (Rebel Youth) is a Cuban newspaper founded and run by the Union of Young Communists. On October 21, 1965, 18 days after the founding of the Granma newspaper, in the summary of the activities on the occasion of the V anniversary of the integration of the Cuban Youth Movement and the inauguration of the first National Sports Games, the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz announced the emergence of a new newspaper that had as historical antecedents the Revista Mella (which became a weekly) and the "Diario de la Tarde", which was to collect and continue the combative and exemplary traditions of the Cuban youth press throughout the history of Cuba.
