Notable scientist whose writings are a true paradigm for the knowledge of the development of science in a tropical country, where the same mechanisms did not always work, in addition to the different nature, than in Europe. Personality that rose in the period of the last decade of the eighteenth century and the first 30 years of the XIX century, an active professor and practicing physician, the study that is grouped in his works reflects the efforts he made in the Creole aristocratic group that promoted the vigorous institutional, cultural and scientific reform that was taking shape at that time on the Island.
