Abelardo Moreno Fernandez

Cuban diplomat and negotiator. For almost twenty years he held the position of Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba. He has participated in hundreds of international meetings and negotiations and has led important negotiation processes. In addition to his activity in the United Nations and its bodies, he has maintained an active participation in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for more than forty years and in the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), since its creation; In the NAM, he intervened in the Summit and Ministerial Meetings from 1973 to 2019, and on numerous occasions he chaired the Political Commission of said conferences. He served as Cuba's ambassador to the United Nations (UN) and as director of the Multilateral Affairs Directorate of the Cuban Foreign Ministry. He currently works as advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba.
