Daina Chaviano

While living in Cuba, she published several fantasy and science fiction books, becoming the best-selling and admired author in both sides in the history of her country. After leaving the island, in 1991, he has stood out for a series of novels where he addresses more contemporary and historical issues with strong mythological and fantastic elements. Although the weight of his work is aimed at the adult reader, he has also published several books for young people. In that concept, his literature is quite sui generis because sometimes the boundaries between the ages of his readers are quite diffuse. His prose moves with equal ease in the fantastic and traditional modalities. Both in one and in the other he has won international awards and recognitions. His topics include mythology, eroticism, ancient history, sociology, parapsychology, politics and magic.
