Héctor Garrido
Born in the Andalusian city of Huelva, in Spain, in 1969, resident in Havana, Cuba, since 2016. Héctor Garrido is a photographer specialized in science and portraiture. He has published 22 books and carried out a hundred photographic and informative exhibitions. He publishes photos of him regularly in magazines all over the world. He has carried out scientific expeditions to many of the planet's great landscapes and his photographs regularly appear in the world's main media, and today he is one of the most recognized photographers in the field of science and portraiture in Spain. One of his most recognized works is "Cuba Iluminada", with more than a hundred portraits of personalities from the world of Cuban culture. He publishes photos of him regularly in magazines all over the world. Héctor has made several collaborations in the film industry, among which the films "La Isla Mínima" (A. Rodríguez, 2014) -where he took the impressive aerial photographs of the header of the title- and "Sergio and Sergei" (E Daranas, 2017) -where he contributes his singular point of view on the way of looking at the surface of the planet-. In addition, he has received a good number of international awards and recognitions and many of his photographs are studied in photography schools and colleges. He is a founding member of the Jíbarophotos collective @jibarophotos.
